This major focuses on the origins and historical developments in the interface of society, science, and technology. It is therefore a cross-disciplinary research program bridging natural and social sciences. This kind of research has a long history and became an independent discipline more than one hundred years ago. In 1913, with the effort of George Sarton and others, an international journal of history of science and technology,ISISwas created. The foundation of the international society for the history of science and the convening of the first international congress of history of science and technology in 1928 marked the establishment of this discipline. Students graduating from this major usually work in universities, research institutes, museums, archaeological institutes, and government offices
