We have been developing our capabilities to tackle the degradation mechanisms of materials and to design specific conservation treatments accordingly, in order to preserve as much of our material heritage as possible. Our Institute has trained the most PhD students in conservation science in China, and our graduates can be found in museums across the country. Our Institute has made investments to further improve our strengths in the study of corrosion, weathering, and other degradation mechanisms, the analysis and conservational study of organic cultural heritage, the structural preservation of industrial heritage, and other applied research in conservation engineering.
