In the last five years, the number of research grants awarded to Institute faculty has increased greatly, including major grants from the Origins of Chinese Civilization Program, the Compass Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, and other external funding totaling 18,850,000 RMB. In this same period, Institute faculty published ten books and more than two hundred fifty journal articles. Twenty nine articles were written in English and published in journals such as Journal of Archaeological Science, Archaeometry, and Antiquity.
