Restarting the Institute’s Academic ‘Luncheon Meeting’

On the noon of 16 September, 2020, the Institute for Cultural Heritage and History of Science & Technology's long-awaited ‘luncheon meeting’ kicked off in room 616 at the Qinggang Lecture Hall of the Metallurgical Building. Associate Professor Liu Siran of our institution organised the first luncheon meeting of the new semester, which was hosted by Professors Qian Wei and Zhang Meifang. More than 80 teachers and students enthusiastically participated in this academic exchange.

The ‘luncheon meeting’ is an internal academic exchange activity established by the University of Science and Technology Beijing Institute of Cultural Heritage and History of Science & Technology. Its name was derived from how it coincides with lunchtime;  its schedule, which is fixed, is every Wednesday from noon to 13:30. The meeting is open to all the teachers and students at the institute. Every Wednesday, one teacher will present their recent study and share it with the audience. Teachers and students actively interact and discuss with each other to break down disciplinary barriers and enhance academic exchanges and thinking between teachers and students. The luncheon has played a positive role in promoting the development of an academic atmosphere and communication between teachers and students and serves as an enjoyable and relaxing way for students and faculty to communicate with each other. This semester, we plan to organise 18 weekly luncheon meetings.
